The, "Oh no, I won't allow you to sacrifice anything for me, I will throw myself on this sword instead -- oh no, now we must fight at the panel to see who can input their answer first, ugh, augh, the pain, the suffering, the drama, the pathos," kind?
Neither of us are heroes. We're people who had heavy obligations, who each chose a path that meant doing something, even if neither of us reached the resolution we set out to find.
So, if you approve -- I propose we make a deal. Let's each choose each other's sacrifice, rather than our own.
I expect it to meet the criteria of "something you value" while not deeply disrupting your life, abilities, or relationship with others. It is one of your defense mechanisms, but it's not as starkly baring as sacrificing one's ability to "obfuscate the truth" or "conceal one's emotions".
I don't expect it will be pleasant, but I do expect it will be endurable. And, moreover -- you have already demonstrated that it is something you're willing to put aside for me, at least when we're alone together. So I expect it will meet the objective of answering, "What would you be willing to sacrifice for this person?" as well.

That said, I was intending that we would seek prior approval and agreement before any final decisions were made.

I don't need to grandstand for some producer's amusement to prove that you're important to me.

Fine. What do you have in mind?
