Cursed energy is created by negative emotions. When these overflow and accumulate, cursed spirits are born.

Where do non sorcerers come into this, and why'd you want to kill them?

Non sorcerers are unable to keep cursed energy within their bodies, that's how cursed spirits are born.

If non sorcerers disappear, or if they evolve to the point where they can control their output like sorcerers do, then cursed spirits would no longer be a threat to society.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that sorcerers die a lot because of cursed spirits.

I was convenient, in more ways than one.

It would've sparked a huge war if everything had gone to plan. He was really angry about the way things were, and I won't say he was wrong to be, but using and killing people and trying to end the world about it wasn't — like, something I could get behind.

I was part of that. And I did what I could to honor what he wanted, after. So there wouldn't have to be more kids who grew up as abandoned and bitter as he'd been.
